We are excited to see the children of the Classes of 2027 and 2028 tomorrow! The teachers have been working and are patiently awaiting students arrival. The custodians have been busy getting the building ready, the cooks working on menus for delicious meals and the bus drivers preparing to get your children to and from school safely. It is going to be the best year yet! A few reminders/bit of news on the night before the 2019/2020 year begins. Dewey Elementary hours are 8:20-3:30. The main entrance, prior to 8:00, will be the Northwest doors by the cafeteria/gym. After 8:00 we will use the regular West office doors. At this time, walkers and bike riders will not be dismissed until after the busses and cars have completed their pick-ups. We do not want students around moving vehicles. Please watch the Webpage or Facebook page for updates. Polk Street will be the only drop off/pick-up area for cars. Dickinson Street from Calhoun to Bryan Street must be kept clear for busses. Please do not use Cooper Street as a drop off location as it runs into Dickinson. Since Polk is one way, here are two options (from Washington Street): 1. West on Calhoun, past the Middle School Field House, North on State to Polk and East on Polk. 2. West on Bryan Street to Edgewood Avenue, South on Edgewood to Polk and East in Polk. Please know our goal at dismissal is to be efficient and safe. Thank you so much for sharing your children with us! Please call Dewey if you have any questions at 646-4255.
