We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of the BTC Bank Area Youth Benefit Corp. Their employees contribute to a year-round fund dedicated to supporting local youth, and this year they chose to give back to students who receive weekly food support through the CMS CARES Closet. The support of our amazing community never ceases to amaze us! We are proud to share that 25 CMS students will receive Christmas care packages filled with food, presents, new shoes, and hygiene items. This would not be possible without the incredible generosity of Xi Alpha Kappa of Beta Sigma Phi, the Livingston County Courthouse Food Drive, First Baptist Church, the Lions Club, CMS staff and students, and the CMS Bright Future Site Council.

CMS is excited to host Hornet Hoops, our annual end-of-season basketball tournament, starting tonight! We are looking forward to two great days of competition, school pride, and community support.

This year’s tournament is especially meaningful. Our girls are rallying around Quinlyn Marsh, an eighth grader at CMS who was planning to be part of our basketball team but was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Quinlyn is a strong, positive leader who made a huge impact on our program the last two years, and we are proud to support her through our “Collect for Q – Children’s Mercy” drive. Fans can gain entry each day with a small donation, with all proceeds going to Children’s Mercy. You’ll also see purple throughout the tournament as a show of support, and we invite everyone to join us in wearing purple!

We also have a special treat as eighth grader Madison Wolf will be performing the National Anthem LIVE!

These students have shown outstanding responsibility throughout first semester. They come to class prepared, take ownership of their work, and make choices that positively impact our school community. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, along with our CMS food drive, collected many items that will be sent home with students over the holiday break. We are incredibly grateful for such a giving and supportive community. We continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity shown during the holiday season.
