One of the very best parts of Homecoming is seeing our students—from elementary through high school—come together for the Special Olympics Homecoming Float!
Our students LOVE riding through town, waving to the crowd, celebrating Homecoming, and showing off their Hornet pride. Moments like these are a great reminder of what makes our school community so special.
A big thank you to the teachers and staff who volunteered their time and worked hard to make this experience possible for our students—we truly appreciate you.

On Monday, September 21 at 1:00 PM, Chillicothe R-II staff will be conducting and participating in an Intruder Exercise at CES as part of our ongoing work to support school safety and preparedness.
During the exercise, you will see police and emergency vehicles at CES, but there is no emergency. This is a planned training.
Please also note: There is no school on Monday, September 21—it is a Planned Professional Development Day for staff.

7th grade Engineering is officially underway, and our students just wrapped up the Tallest Spaghetti Tower Challenge!
Using only 20 pieces of dry spaghetti and 1 meter of tape, teams had to design a tower tall enough to compete - and strong enough to hold up a classroom item (all the same mass). Along the way, they learned a lot about criteria and constraints, the importance of teamwork, and that everyone’s ideas have value.
Next up, they’ll be exploring real-world tower design and engineering, including structures like the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and One World Trade Center in New York City.
And of course… congratulations to the 7th grade hour winners pictured - because let’s be honest, everything is a competition in middle school!
Also, fair warning: this is harder than you might think… that’s why it’s called a challenge!

A big shoutout to our 5th graders and CHS Hornet Academy students for helping rinse and cut the lettuce for today’s tasting - students gave it a big thumbs up!
This project is funded through a Local Foods for Schools Grant through the Department of Education. Tasting Tuesdays will happen the first Tuesday of every month as we work to bring healthy, nutritious foods to our lunchrooms and help students learn where our food comes from.
UPDATE: TONIGHT'S SOFTBALL GAMES WILL NOW START AT 4 PM DUE TO THE WEATHER! CMS A & B Softball host Cameron today at Danner Park! First pitch for the A Team is at 5 PM, with the B Team to follow. Come out and cheer on the Hornets—let’s defend home field and earn two wins! Go Hornets!
