CMS is excited to welcome **Mrs. Rebecca Gilliland** as our new **Intervention Teacher** for the 2026-2027 school year!
Mrs. Gilliland joins CMS after spending the past **four years teaching 5th grade at Chillicothe Elementary School**, where she built strong relationships with students and families while helping students achieve academic success. We are excited to have her bring her experience, passion, and dedication to this new role as she supports students in reaching their full potential.
As an Intervention Teacher, Mrs. Gilliland will work closely with students to provide targeted support, build confidence, and help them grow academically. Her commitment to meeting students where they are and helping them succeed makes her a tremendous addition to the CMS team.
Outside of school, Mrs. Gilliland enjoys spending time with her husband and their two children, who will both be attending middle school next year. When she is not curled up with a good book or out fishing, you can often find her at a ball field cheering on her kids as they participate in their various sporting events.

CMS is excited to welcome **Ms. Jenny Otto** as our new **7th Grade English Language Arts Teacher** for the 2026-2027 school year!
Ms. Otto brings **22 years of educational experience** to CMS, having taught students from first grade through high school, including first grade, fifth-grade English, eighth-grade English, freshman English, and dual-credit speech. Her passion for helping students learn and grow has made a lasting impact on countless young people throughout her career.
Ms. Otto believes in creating a classroom built on **kindness, hard work, laughter, and meaningful relationships**, where every student feels supported, challenged, and valued. She is committed to making learning engaging while helping students reach their full potential.
Family is at the center of Ms. Otto’s life. She is the proud mother of **Jaycie (23), Coleman (21), and Jaqsyn (6)** and enjoys spending time with family and friends, supporting local events, and making memories with the people who matter most.
Ms. Otto shared, *“I’m so excited to begin a new chapter next year at Chillicothe Middle School. I can’t wait to meet my new students, build new relationships, and become a Hornet!”*

Julie and Suzi have spent countless hours volunteering at CMS and supporting our students. From cooking lessons and life skills to encouragement and words of wisdom, these two have diligently served as mentors to so many students throughout the years.
The positive relationships they have built with students at CMS will truly last a lifetime. We are incredibly thankful for the impact they continue to make each and every day!

CMS Cares Day is a special tradition focused on service, giving back, and making a positive impact throughout our community. Today, our students and staff will be out and about across Chillicothe completing odd jobs, helping community members, and serving others with pride and kindness.

Larissa goes above and beyond every single day to care for our students and staff with compassion, patience, and kindness. Whether it’s helping a sick student feel better, calming nerves, offering encouragement, or simply being a friendly face to everyone who walks through her door, she makes a tremendous impact on our school each and every day.
