To the Graduating Class of 2021 and Parents:
Chillicothe High School commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2021 are still on schedule for this Sunday, May 16th at 8:00 p.m. Looking ahead at the weather for this weekend, the forecast predicts that there is a good chance of rain on Sunday. Given all of the uncertainties with the forecast, we would like to provide you with our inclement weather plan.
We will monitor the forecast/radar and make a decision on graduation location by noon on the day of graduation.
If the forecast Sunday morning is for moderate to heavy rain in the evening, we will move graduation ceremonies to the CHS gym. We will move the stage and all of the chairs to the CHS gym from the stadium if the site location for graduation changes.
Updates will be posted around noon on our CHS Facebook page, texts to senior students’ phones, and emails to senior parents.
As well, seating will be available in the P.A.C. where graduation will be live-streamed.
If the district is able to host the ceremony outside at Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium, then those requesting social distancing can be seated on the North hill.
If the district moves the event indoors, then guests will be encouraged to bring and wear a mask inside the gym. Seating will also be available in the PAC where graduation will be live-streamed.
Regardless of the location of the event, seating will be on a first come first serve basis, and tickets will not be required to get into the event.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility, and thank you to the Health Department for their consultation and guidance, as we make this a memorable celebration for the Class of 2021.
