
The National Honor Society induction at Chillicothe High School will go on as scheduled this evening, Monday, March 7, at the performing arts center at 6:30 pm.


The Chillicothe R-II School District and Chillicothe High School will not be in session on Monday, March 7 due to the snow that has fallen.

CHS Key Club is gearing up for prom season! They have organized their Cinderella's closet and it is ready for the perfect fit! Sizes 0-18 available as well as some shoes and accessories! Key Clubbers also are making rounds to pick up donations for the After Prom party held in the high school commons. All donations from snacks to cash and prizes are welcome. Saturday marks the first ever Midland Empire Conference Fine Arts Festival and it will be hosted in the Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center right here at CHS! It runs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and admission is FREE! Check out the flyer for more information.


Congratulations to Ruger Cox and Bryce Dominique, they are the R.A.K.E. award winners for the past few school days. They were identified doing the following;
Ruger Cox and Bryce Dominque - Ther were in the commons when they noticed the food vending machine was left open and unsecured. A rep from Midwest vending was here earlier filling the machine but evidently did not completely shut or lock the machine. While under guard from Bryce, Ruger was able to shut and secure the machine to make sure no one was able to steal any valuable merchandise.

Jaden Funk - He saw a student in immediate need and jumped right in to help.
Kayla Cakranata and Caden Kaniannen - I accidentally bumped into a table containing cups of beans that we had used for a science activity. I spilled at LEAST 1000 dried beans all over my desk and floor. While I was helping another student with their lab graphs, Kayla and Caden picked them all up for me without being asked.

Boys district basketball at home at 2:00 pm vs. Savannah today!

The Chillicothe R-II School District will operate on a two-hour delay, Friday, February 25, due to slick road conditions. Classes will begin at 9:55 am at Chillicothe High School. Stay safe Hornets!

The CHS Celebrity Band Concert will be this evening at 7:00 pm in the PAC. This event was rescheduled from last Thursday due to snow.

Conference Championship Basketball!
The Chillicothe High School basketball teams will be playing Maryville at home on Thursday night. The varsity girls game will begin at 6:00 pm with the varsity boys game to follow. The boys will be playing for a share of the MEC conference title. If you are looking for something to do on Thursday evening, come out and support the hornets vs. Maryville at the CHS gym.

Congratulations to Chillicothe High School's Brock Miller who placed 5th in the 182 pound weight class at the state wrestling tournament this weekend.


Due to road conditions, no school tomorrow, Friday, February 18th, for Chillicothe R-II. REMINDER - there is also no school Monday, February 21st in observance of President's Day.

Due to Marshall High School not being in session on Friday with heavier snow to the south of us, the basketball games scheduled for Friday at Marshall have been moved to Saturday. All games will be played at Marshall High School starting with the jvg at 2:00 pm, followed by the jvb, vg, and vb. Bus will leave at 12:15 pm.

Congratulations to Maci Stover, Trevor Peniston, Lainey Thompson, Joel Edwards, and Stephen Parkes, they are the R.A.K.E. award winners for the past few school days. They were identified doing the following;
Maci Stover -Maci makes sure chairs are put up at the end of the day and today, she put up about 5 chairs from students who were absent. She is so kind!
Trevor Peniston -Trevor is always so kind and respectful to others. He saw Maci putting up other people's chairs at the end of the day and jumped in to help her. I appreciate it!
Lainey Thompson -Lainey always volunteers to help during her study hall. She delivers books to teachers and students, takes papers to the office, and helps with other tasks as needed. She also pops the popcorn for tutoring every week.
Joel Edwards -Joel found a wallet on my classroom floor that had been dropped by a student the previous hour. The wallet contained a debit card and a credit card. He promptly turned it in to me so it could be returned to its owner.
Stephen Parkes -Right at the last bell of the day, a freshman dropped her glass water bottle in the hallway outside my room, where it shattered. Stephen immediately started warning people to steer clear of the broken glass and began picking up the pieces.
