Nolan Parks

Nolan Parks has been one of our awesome bus drivers at Chillicothe R-II Schools for one Year! This year, he’s driving a county route on Bus 13 daily.

Nolan explained there are a few reasons why he enjoys driving a bus for Chillicothe R-II Schools. “I like being around the kids, the comradery around the bus barn is awesome, and I feel like I’m doing some good!” he said.

Nolan said he prefers driving a country route rather than busing kids around town before and after school because he is able to see lots of wildlife along his route. He also noted that driving a morning and afternoon route fits his schedule pretty well. “It leaves the middle of my day open,” he said, adding, “I’m usually done with my morning route by 8 a.m. and I’ve got until 2:30 p.m. to get other things done.”

Born and raised in the Chillicothe area, he’s a 1976 Chillicothe High School graduate and is retired from Farmers’ Electric Cooperative, where he worked as a lineman for 31 years. He’s also an Air Force Veteran, having served from 1976 to 1981, leaving the service as a sergeant. His hobbies include riding motorcycles and participating in the Christian Motorcycle Association. Along with riding his motorcycle, Nolan said he enjoys traveling and watching the Chiefs, MU and Chillicothe Hornet football.

Nolan has three daughters and nine grandchildren.
