Marigold Recipients – 2025–26 School Year
At CES, the Marigold Award is an annual tradition given to staff members who embody the spirit of the marigold: encouraging, protecting, and uplifting those around them. Just like the marigold nurtures its garden, these recipients support and inspire students and colleagues with unwavering positivity.
Nominated by their peers, these incredible individuals make each day a little brighter. Congratulations to our 2025–26 Marigold Recipients:
Mrs. Hillary Beemer
Mr. Ben Coult
Mrs. Cinda Maasdam
A colleague shared that Mrs. Beemer “is always willing to lend a helping hand, offers solid advice, and goes above what is required.”
A colleague shared that Coach Coult “knows all 750 kids’ names and manages behavior like a superhero.”
Mrs. Maasdam was recognized for “her calm patience, positive attitude, and welcoming smile,” which bring stability and encouragement to students every day. She consistently goes above and beyond to support students and staff with kindness.
Thank you, Mrs. Beemer, Coach Coult and Mrs. Maasdam, for making CES a better place for all. Your uplifting energy keeps us blooming!
And to the many other marigolds at CES—those who lift spirits with a kind word, a helping hand, or a warm smile—your quiet acts of support and encouragement do not go unnoticed. Together, you make our school a garden of growth, care, and connection.

“Let Your Kind Shine”
Kindness is everywhere at CES! The three recipients of this week's awards were nominated by a teacher or staff member for showing exceptional kindness. They received a sunshine keepsake and the opportunity to sit in the yellow sunshine chair over the next week to promote kindness throughout CES!
Delilah Clements (Mrs. Reeter’s Kindergarten)
Delilah loves to create and make things! She is always making cards, hearts, pictures or other trinkets at home. Then she brings them to share with the children. Her pretty creations make the children smile.
Kruez Clinton (Mrs. Howe’s 2nd Grade)
Kruez is just the happiest kid. He comes in everyday with a big smile on his face. He is never sad or angry. He is friends with everyone and is always kind. He does whatever he is asked with a smile on his face even if it is a hard task. He is just an awesome kiddo! We love having Kruez in our class!
Austin Suddith (Mrs. Taylor’s 5th Grade)
Austin is always smiling and happy! He greets adults and classmates with a friendly and kind attitude daily. Austin’s joyful presence makes others happy just to be around. Austin makes our school a better place and we are so glad you are here!

Mrs. Wolf and Ms. Book’s first grade classes visited their partner in education, the Livingston County Children’s Library. Students enjoyed donuts and chocolate milk, made bubble blowing cups, decorated T-shirts, and sprayed them with a magic spray, and listened to stories. We love and treasure our partnership with the children’s library. Thank you to the staff for such a fun field trip.

Our 1st graders visited the Litton Center 🐖
They toured the farm and transplanted seeds that we previously planted. It was a beautiful day!

Happy Birthday!!!🎉

Our 2nd graders had a wonderful time visiting Shatto Dairy today! While there, they sampled a variety of milk and cheese products and got a firsthand look at life on a working dairy farm.
A big thank you to our amazing chaperones for helping make the day run smoothly, and as always, we are so grateful to our Chilli MO PTO for funding another valuable and memorable learning experience for our students.

Congratulations to three of our dedicated educators who will be retiring at the end of this school year. With nearly 100 years of combined service to education, Mrs. Susan Keller, Mrs. Julia Reeter, and Mrs. Natalie Holcer have made a lasting impact on our students and community. We wish them all the very best in retirement and were honored to celebrate all three teachers at CES today.

Coach Coult, Coach Dixon, and all CES students are grateful to Bill & Inger Young for their incredibly generous donation of a brand-new CES Record Board! The excitement it sparked helped lead to 24 new student fitness records this year! We can’t wait to grow this new tradition!

Mrs. Beemer's 2nd graders practiced making arrays with cereal this morning!

Thank you to another Partner in Education!!

CES sure loves our bus drivers that get us to and from school each day safely!

Thank you!!!

Miss Book's Class was treated with a Drink Shop on Friday. The first grade classroom earned a flavored drink party for all of their hard work on their iReady tests!

Today we proudly celebrated our 5th grade D.A.R.E. graduates! 🎓
School Resource Officer Plummer, along with several members of our local law enforcement community, joined us to recognize students for their hard work and commitment in successfully completing the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program.
D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) has been empowering students for decades by teaching them how to make safe and responsible choices, resist peer pressure, and build confidence in decision-making—skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
We are incredibly proud of our students for this achievement and grateful to those who helped make this program possible. A heartfelt thank you to our generous sponsors: Marcolla Wealth Management, Ben and Sadie Beetsma, Paul and Betty Steele, Chillicothe Family Pharmacy, Chillicothe Elks Lodge, Silver Moon Feeds, and BTC Bank. Your support makes a lasting impact on our students and community!
Congratulations to our graduates—we can’t wait to see the great choices you’ll continue to make! 👏
