Officials from Chillicothe R-II School District were alerted to a potential threat of a school shooting at CHS, as circulated on Snapchat. The threat claimed that the school shooting would take place on Monday, September 16. The threat was promptly investigated by local law enforcement, including School Resource Officer Mike Lewis from CHS. The investigation revealed that the threat was actually targeted towards a CHS in another state. As such, there is no credible threat against our students at Chillicothe High School or any other facilities or events within the Chillicothe R-II School District. However, to ensure utmost safety, local law enforcement will be conducting additional walkthroughs in district buildings on Monday. We, as district officials, are grateful for the swift response and thorough investigation conducted by our local law enforcement to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
