Pictured are five Chillicothe High School students who have earned distinguished academic summer opportunities: sophomore Ben Cady (Wisconsin EAA Air Academy), junior Lake Englert (CMU/Blakely & Associates engineering internship), junior Kierra Williams (Missouri Fine Arts Academy), freshman Halle Gabrielson (Joseph Baldwin Academy at Truman State University), and sophomore Adilynn Edds (Missouri Scholar’s Academy at the University of Missouri–Columbia).

As Chillicothe High School continues striving to help students focus on real-world learning, we are excited to recognize five students who have earned distinguished academic opportunities for this summer. These experiences reflect our students’ talent, initiative, and commitment to exploring future careers and academic passions.

Sophomore Ben Cady has earned a coveted spot in the Wisconsin EAA Air Academy, a week-long summer camp designed for hopeful pilots. Ben will gain hands-on exposure to engineering and aviation skills that contribute to a pilot’s skill set—including real airplane and helicopter flight time.

Junior Lake Englert, an aspiring engineer, has been hired as a summer intern by Chillicothe Municipal Utility (CMU) in partnership with Blakely & Associates. Lake will help create the full electrical engineering blueprints for a new power substation planned for Chillicothe’s Industrial Park—an impressive opportunity to apply classroom learning to a major local project.

Junior Kierra Williams, an aspiring professional artist, has been selected for the prestigious Missouri Fine Arts Academy, funded by the state legislature and hosted by Missouri State University. During this two-week program, Kierra will advance her art skills under the guidance of college art professors and connect with other student artists from across the state.

Freshman Halle Gabrielson has been accepted into the Joseph Baldwin Academy at Truman State University for a three-week academic experience in the department of her choice. Halle has chosen to study “Advocacy, Argument, & Persuasion: Rhetoric in Contemporary Times,” building skills that will support her future academic and leadership goals.

Sophomore Adilynn Edds has been chosen for the elite Missouri Scholar’s Academy, also funded by the state legislature and hosted by the University of Missouri–Columbia. During this three-week program, Adilynn will take college courses of interest, learn with law school professors, and complete a major final showcase project.

Please join us in congratulating Ben, Lake, Kierra, Halle, and Adilynn on these outstanding accomplishments. We’re proud to see CHS students pursuing meaningful, challenging opportunities that connect learning to life beyond the classroom.
