Melissa Young

The Chillicothe R-II Board of Education held a special meeting Monday, February 26th at 7 A.M. at the Administrative Offices. During the Executive Session, the Board of Education unanimously moved to offer a contract to Melissa Young for the position of Director of Student Support Services and Educational Technology for the 2024-25 school year.

“I am very excited to have Melissa Young fill this full-time position,” Dr. Dan Wiebers said today (Tuesday). “Her expertise in technology and curriculum, along with her educational knowledge and leadership will be invaluable assets to our administrative team, and I look forward to working with her here at the administrative offices,” he added.

Young, who is currently serving as an assistant elementary school principal at Field School, has several years of experience as the District’s Education Technology Specialist. She holds a Specialist’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, has a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction - both from the University of Missouri-Columbia; and holds certificates in Elementary Education, Special Reading, and Administration. Prior to serving as an assistant principal with Chillicothe R-II Schools, she worked as the Superintendent/Principal of Livingston County R-III Schools for two years.

Young’s eleven-and-a-half month contract as Director of Student Support Services and Educational Technology will begin on July 1, 2024. 

A native to the area, Young and her husband, Jeff, live northwest of Chillicothe and together, have five grown children and three grandchildren
