Chillicothe R-II Re-Entry Plan

Dear Chillicothe R-II Parents,

Classes in the Chillicothe R-II School district are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, August 25, and my hopes are that students can attend classes in-person within the facilities of the district. With COVID-19 infection rates increasing across our country, it will be important to update our usual school plans to provide safety to our students, staff, and guests of the district. I am requesting that parents review the attached Re-Entry Plan Newsletter (Click Hyperlink to view Re-Entry Plan). Within the newsletter are links to view the district’s complete plan for re-entry into the buildings. After reviewing the newsletter, please take a few moments to complete the survey, by clicking on the survey link:

The district requests that you complete one survey for each child that plans on attending the Chillicothe R-II School District for the 2020-2021 school year. Each survey is student specific and the data collected will allow the district to make decisions concerning instruction, food service and technology. In addition, every plan should be reviewed and updated when needed. Please provide your comments in the survey if you feel the district could accomplish a portion of the Re-Entry Plan in a more effective manner.

The district has approximately 1700 students and from time-to-time, social distancing will not be possible. Therefore, we are asking all families to provide face masks for their children when attending school in August. This will allow our students and staff to be safe when social distancing cannot be guaranteed. (i.e. school transportation, hallway traffic)

The survey does ask parents their plans for student transportation. Due to the number of bus riders, the district will not be able to seat all students six feet apart and is continuing to monitor guidance as it relates to bus transport. Masks will be required on buses and assigned seating utilized. However, per public health guidance, exceptions may be permitted for children with special needs. In the spirit of helping our families who rely the most on transportation, please sign up for transportation this year only if you plan on using it consistently. Buses will be routinely cleaned and sanitized, including between routes.

The district has developed a plan to disinfect and clean classrooms, buses, and common areas to provide for a safe learning environment. Due to the increased amount of cleaning, the district will not be allowing outside groups to use our facilities until further notice. As well, buildings have more regulations in place for visitors to the district. Please review the plan for this information.

I am looking forward to the beginning of this school year, even though it will look different than any other year I have had in education. We are excited to welcome your children back into our buildings and look forward to a successful year in the Chillicothe R-II School District.

Sincerely,
Dan Wiebers
Superintendent
Chillicothe R-II School District
