Hornet squads have qualified for State Tournaments played (in a 13-team district) nine of the last eleven years, outright winning the Districts in five years, finishing second three other years, and finishing third once. The five district championship teams also won their first round of State play to advance to the State Quarterfinals, losing in three of those years to perennial state tennis champions, Pembroke County Day. Additionally, the Hornet netters have won MEC Conference Championships in nine of the last eleven years with a record of 53-2 in Conference match play during that time. During the last eleven years the Hornets have had four District Singles Champs, three Districts Singles runners-up, six District Double Champs and three District Doubles runner-up, all of which qualified for individual state tournament play. (Total State Qualifying Entries of 16 in 11 years and 18 in the last 13 years - State Qualifiers have to finish first or second in singles or doubles out of 26 entries in each event.) Also, during the last 11 years, the Hornets have a match record of 161-31 which is the third highest winning percentage in State History for coaches with a minimum of 150 victories. Season Results CHS varsity baseball includes grades 9-12, with a separate club for the Freshmen. Varsity and JV games are played at Shaffer Park. The Freshmen games are played at Danner Park. Back
